The mineral was discovered in Peru and this style cut is called a window. See other pictures. Its a completely raw crystal, just cut in half to show the stunning blue throughout and the thin white gypsum layer. Peruvian Angelite has grabbed the attention of the metaphysical community and collectors. Compared to other Blue minerals like Celestite it is very reasonably priced. This piece has a flat bottom (the cut) and the beautiful outside that reminds me of a mountain. 💙 I sell gemstone pebbles by weight! You get more, check out my other polished, tumbled stones. Angelite's chemical structure is CaSo4 - Calcium Sulfate. It has a 3.5 hardness on the Mohs scale. Very soft. 💙The color is as close to pure sky blue as I have ever seen. It is peaceful to look at and have in your room or on an altar. The celestial attributes most associated with Angelite are: Tranquility - Peaceful Compassionate Communication - Stress Relief - Emotional Healing - Angelic Communication and it is considered a throat chakra stone. Anhydrite itself was discovered in 1794, and named by A.G. Werner in 1804 due to the lack of water crystallization. If you get anhydrite wet, whether in a pool, the ocean, or shower ( if your wearing the beads), the mineral will turn to common gypsum. So please, don't wear or take your Angelite into the shower, bath or pool, or use in an aquarium. The variety of anhydrite known as Angelite was found in Peru in 1987 during the Harmonic Convergence, and has quickly become a favorite New Age stone.
